Can you trust the Thrive Movement?
For those of you who don’t know, Thrive Movement was put together by Foster Gamble and his wife Kimberly. The foundation of this movement is explained in the documentary THRIVE: What On Earth Will It Take? (video above)
In todays world, we often ask ourselves what things/companies/people/etc we can trust. In the new age of Internet, we have found ourselves in an unprecedented position of unlimited information at our fingertips, and unlimited opinions to go with it. Even more today we seem to have proven the ancient spiritual knowledge of: Seek and ye shall find.
Elephants are killing our planet.
If you want to find information on how elephants are killing our planet, its out there, as bizarre as it sounds! In fact, I just made that one up off the top of my head and went on a search! Sure enough, I found this article about an ecologist who literally blamed elephant herds for destroying African grasslands. I have no idea if the information there is true and factual, but thats entirely the point! Whatever your mind seeks to confirm, you can find.
So most humans turn toward asking themselves if they can trust the SOURCE of information they have found. If by their definition the source is trustworthy (authoritative), then well, the information must be, and there we begin our spoon-fed session of ideals, beliefs and world-view. We are too busy or too lazy to go off on fact finding missions – so we simply look at the source.
In God We Trust… but trust in … Government?
You might be nodding your head right now in agreement as this is the way we’ve all been trained to discern our information. Trust your newspapers, your news stations, your news broadcasters, your government, your police, your authorities… the only problem with this is now these people you may have been trained to trust now hold the power to “program” you. What they say, you believe. What else can you do? You are quite busy in your life, so you want to trust those people and organizations. You want to believe they are of integrity and honest, you want to believe they are informing you of the facts!
I won’t get much into the question or doubt of these entities and whether or not they are someone you can trust, as the greater point of this article is to question our METHOD of information assimilation. You really have to ask yourself if you think it is GOOD for you to TRUST the messenger so much that their word becomes your life. You have to decide whether you want spoon-fed reality, or want to be self-aware enough to make your own decisions about the world around you.
And this brings me to my thoughts on the matter. Throughout human history, we have ALWAYS focused on the messenger… but what about the message? Isn’t the message vastly more important than the messenger? For a discerning mind that wishes to make its own beliefs, the messenger is absolutely unimportant. Pause for a few moments to consider the implications of that in your life.

Many of us will resist this notion, as it means we have to take responsibility for our own lives and STAND for what we have chosen to believe and perceive. Our society has become more of a herd mentality where we’d rather believe what everyone else believes so that we don’t get ostracized, criticized, and outright attacked by the herd. Its just easier to go with the herd…. or so we think.
But for those of you that are considering a new way, for those that want to take the responsibility for their own lives (and thus your power & free-will), you’ll have to devise a new way of discerning what information is real to you.

To better explain how I discern truth, I thought I would define a more and more common spiritual greeting “namaste”. Take note that the deeper meaning here is that when we are with light, love, truth, beauty & peace, we are One.
It is from this place that I discern truth. Many years ago, as I pondered the nature of our reality, I came to the conclusion that all we truly have is belief.
There is no fact, only belief. The facts of decades ago are now untrue. Do not cling to facts, realize, all things you think you know are merely beliefs.
Upon realizing this, I finally understood what it is to create one’s own reality (as opposed to adopting the herd/society mentality). I had full control over my own beliefs.
But how do you choose which perceptions & what information to believe in?
This is actually the easy part!!!! All one must do is thoughtfully contemplate the information or perceptions and LISTEN to the emotional reactions within.
If it feels good – USE IT.
If it feels bad – DISCARD IT.
Now, admittedly, this is a bit oversimplified, but its an excellent BASE to start off from. Abraham Hicks refers to this as the emotional guidance system. In order to use it, one must also have enough honesty with oneself in order to truly understand the emotions that come about.
Sometimes it can feel bad, but still hold truth. I know thats not very useful, and you’d prefer a smoking gun, but this is how life works. It is also possible to think it feels good, when it is in fact bad. The only way you’d know is to have enough honesty with oneself to trace the EMOTION back to the thoughts that generate them.
Then sometimes, you’ll have a true emotion of love, joy, peace come flying out from deep within you, chilling your entire body and perhaps even making you cry… you’ve found something good there, go deeper!
So can you trust the Thrive Movement?
Quiet your mind, open up, let go, if just for a moment, of all previously held beliefs, then watch the video above. Consider the possibilities. If you get that joyful tingly sensation, there’s something there for you. Trust your intuition, the messenger is not important.
I have learned that when we are both in our inner space of Namaste, we will come to the same conclusions. Consciousness unites our conclusions about our perceptions. We are still unique, and will have unique ideas and even perceptions, but the conclusions we come to, in consciousness, will be the same.
